A gift at the beach
Thomas and his sister Abby are spending the day at the beach. Thomas loves the water and running through the icy cool waves. Abby collects seashells nearby; she drops the sand coated shells in an old bucket. Abby finds a shell shaped like a cross and slides it into her pocket. Thomas is laughing and jumping in the water nearby. Their mom packed them their favorite lunch; peanut butter and banana sandwiches and oatmeal raisin cookies along with a thermos of ice cold lemonade.
A little while later, Thomas joins Abby collecting shells. They ran up and down the
beach until their feet get too hot. They sit under a beach umbrella and start to unpack
the picnic basket. They are both hungry. Nearby, a little boy is sitting in the sand, alone.
Abby wonders why he is by himself. He is watching them and looking down at her sandwich. She remembers the cross shaped shell in her pocket. She pulls it out and looks it over. Thomas agrees that they should invite the little boy to join them. She gets up and runs over to where he is sitting. He agrees to join them for lunch. The three kids sit comfortably in the shade and have lunch together. His name is Oscar, and he and his dad are staying in a nearby shelter. His dad sent him to play at the beach while he looks for work. His mother died a few months before, and he really misses her. Abby and Thomas invite Oscar to spend the rest of
the day with them. After lunch they play tag on the beach. They are having so much fun that Abby nearly forgets about the cross shaped shell. Before leaving for home, she takes the shell out of her pocket and gives it to Oscar. She explains to him that as long as he keeps JESUS close, he will never be alone.
Hebrews 13:2 KJV "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."
The Moral of the story…Unleashed: Hebrews 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have
entertained angels unawares. God tells us that we are to be kind to everyone, regardless of how they look; they might be angels
sent by God.
